Coutts (Gordon Coutts) is a Northern Irish DJ and producer with 25+ years in the game, known for delivering high‑energy, precision‑driven techno across the UK, Ireland, and beyond. He’s played major events including Godskitchen, Planet Love, and Ibiza, while headlining countless clubs and festivals throughout his career.

Recently, CORE Magazine caught up with him for a feature interview, diving into his current mindset, inspirations, and goals within today’s techno scene.

Q : If you could collaborate with any artist right now, who would you choose and what draws you to their sound or style?

A. I'm a big fan of what @garybeck_ is doing, every track from that man is a banger, and he has a unique style. Love the high energy, dancefloor oriented feel of his stuff, with lots of clever stabs and disco style samples.
Also love what A.P. does. He's an absolutely fantastic producer, and every track from him is guaranteed to be a dancefloor destroyer. He has a great style of tough driving techno, and he also runs a great label too

A. Collaborating with @simone_zino is a natural choice for me given his consistently complete and highly productive approach to music, making him the ideal collaboration for a release on the renowned techno label @mutual_rytm

Kim Durwael, known as @kdeey13 is a Belgian Techno DJ and Producer, featuring on some prestigious labels he brings his raw deep hypnotic style of Techno to TCR for our second release on the agencies label. Still charting and making his mark on the Techno scene we dive a little deeper into the mind of one of Techno top producers of today.

Q:Who in your opinion would be your biggest influence in the Techno scene today and why?

I would say 3 names. @a.paul_techno @arnaudletexier and @ramontapiaofc
Those three amazing artists were incredibly helpful and respectful to me. They gave me valuable tips and helped me become a better producer, especially in the early stages of my career.
Between 2020 and 2022, A. Paul gave me a lot of guidance on track arrangement and how to build effective breaks and drops. Thanks to him, those elements later became some of my strongest points.
Arnaud is also a really nice guy who helped me a lot. A few months ago, when I was in London on a city trip, I called him and we had a drink together at a pub—awesome moment! Over time, he’s even become a bit of a friend.
More recently, I sent Ramon Tapia a message to thank him for his great feedback on one of my EPs. He asked me to send over some demos, which I gladly did. He signed them (the release came out yesterday!) and also gave me some valuable advice for improvement.
Despite their great reputations and success in the scene, none of them act like stars. They treated me with respect and were open and friendly in their communication—and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
Unfortunately, many label managers—especially the big ones—can be rude and dismissive. That’s why I have so much respect for these three gentlemen. 😍🙏

We are very honoured at @technocoreagency to have talentented artists of such caliber on our roster, this is just the beginning of something great for everyone involved.

Q: What artist would you like to collaborate with and what label would you like it to be released on?

A: @iamthesouthern . He has a phenomenal sound and has had some superb releases. Regarding the label i would definetely go for @clrofficial That package in itself has banger written all over it and it would also be a milestone for me personally!
